Canna × generalis Mixed Bulb | Tropical Canna Lily for Pots & Gardens

Product Details

Create a bold tropical display with Canna × generalis Mix, a colourful Canna Lily mix grown for its lush upright foliage and vibrant seasonal flowers. Cannas are excellent garden plants for adding height, structure and bright colour through the warmer months, making them ideal for tropical-style gardens, large pots, borders and feature planting.

Often called Canna Lilies, these plants are not true lilies, but they are loved for their strong garden presence and exotic appearance. Their broad leaves create a lush backdrop, while the flowers bring warm, vivid colour to summer and autumn displays.

This mixed Canna selection may include a range of flower colours and foliage tones, depending on the stock supplied. Planted in groups, Cannas create a strong resort-style look, while single plants work beautifully as bold features in pots or garden beds.

Supplied as a 1 pack bulb/rhizome, Canna × generalis is easy to grow in a sunny position with regular moisture and feeding during active growth.

Planting & Care

Plant Canna × generalis in a full sun position for best growth and flowering. Cannas enjoy warmth and are ideal for creating a lush tropical look in Australian gardens.

Choose fertile, free-draining soil that holds some moisture without becoming waterlogged. Improve garden soil with compost or organic matter before planting if needed.

Plant the bulb/rhizome approximately 5–10cm deep, with growing points facing upward. Space plants around 40–60cm apart, depending on how full you want the display to be.

Water well after planting, then water regularly during active growth. Cannas perform best with consistent moisture through the warmer months, especially in pots or dry conditions.

Feed during spring and summer with a balanced fertiliser to encourage strong foliage growth and flowering. Regular feeding helps support the large leaves and colourful seasonal display.

Remove spent flowers and old foliage to keep plants looking tidy. In warm climates, Cannas may remain evergreen or semi-evergreen. In cooler areas, foliage may die back over winter before reshooting when temperatures rise.

Mulch around the base to help retain moisture, protect the root zone and reduce heat stress.
