    Description

Create a dense, fragrant screen with Sweet Privacy™ Murraya, a specially selected form of Murraya paniculata bred for naturally bushy growth and lower maintenance than common Murraya varieties.

Sweet Privacy™ develops glossy green evergreen foliage and clusters of beautifully scented white flowers. Its dense habit makes it an excellent choice for boundary planting, privacy screens, formal hedges and areas where you want year-round greenery without constant pruning.

Growing approximately 1.8–2.5m high and 1.5m wide, it can be maintained around fence height or allowed to grow into a taller head-high screen. It generally requires only two trims each year, or up to three for a tightly clipped formal hedge.

    Plant Size Note

Supplied as a young plant in a 42mm pot.

Plants supplied in 42mm pots are small starter plants and will require growing time before reaching the mature size shown in example images.

Plants may not be flowering when dispatched. Height, branching, foliage and seasonal appearance will vary between individual plants.

    Planting & Care

Plant Sweet Privacy™ Murraya in full sun to part shade.

Full sun generally encourages denser growth and stronger flowering. In very hot or exposed climates, some protection from harsh afternoon sun can help reduce moisture stress while the plant is young.

Sweet Privacy™ adapts to most soil types but performs best in fertile soil with suitable drainage. Avoid planting where water remains around the roots for extended periods.

Water thoroughly after planting and maintain regular moisture for approximately 8–13 weeks while the plant establishes.

Once established, water as required during prolonged hot or dry conditions. Regular deep watering will generally produce stronger growth and better flowering than frequent shallow watering.

Apply a layer of chunky mulch around the root zone to retain moisture, suppress weeds and protect the roots. Keep mulch slightly away from the main stem.

Feed once each year with a suitable slow-release fertiliser. Apply according to the product directions and water well afterwards.

For a natural screen, prune approximately twice per year. For a tighter formal hedge, trim up to three times annually or as required.

Avoid removing too much growth immediately before flowering if you want to enjoy the fragrant blooms.

    Flowering Time

Sweet Privacy™ produces sweetly scented white flowers during several periods of the year.

    Flowering generally occurs in:

    • Spring
    • Late summer
    • Early autumn

Exact flowering time and abundance will vary with climate, plant maturity, sunlight, pruning and seasonal conditions.

    Landscape Uses

Sweet Privacy™ Murraya is suitable for:

    • Privacy screens
    • Boundary planting
    • Formal hedges
    • Informal hedges
    • Fence-height screening
    • Entrance gardens
    • Driveway planting
    • Courtyards
    • Fragrant gardens
    • Specimen shrub planting
    • Residential and commercial landscapes

For hedging, plant approximately 1–2 plants per linear metre, depending on how quickly you want the plants to join and the final density required.

For broader landscape planting, allow approximately one plant per square metre.

    Growing in Pots

Sweet Privacy™ may be grown in a large pot while young or where regular pruning will be used to control its size.

Use a quality free-draining potting mix and a sturdy container with drainage holes.

Move the young plant gradually into larger containers as its root system develops rather than planting it directly into an excessively large pot.

Container-grown plants require more regular watering and feeding than plants growing in the ground.
