    Description

Bring cheerful native colour to the garden with Aussie Reflection™, a resilient Australian native groundcover producing vibrant golden-yellow button flowers above attractive silver-blue foliage.

Unlike many short-lived forms of Yellow Buttons, Aussie Reflection™ spreads through stolons and rhizomes. These stems can form additional roots as they travel, helping the plant develop a dense groundcover and recover following periods of drought, frost or other environmental stress.

Its compact height, colourful flowers and spreading habit make it ideal for native gardens, retaining walls, embankments, containers, wildflower displays and mass planting.

SUPPLIED IN A 50MM POT: This product is a young live plant supplied in a 50mm nursery pot. The photographs show examples of mature established plants. The plant supplied may not be flowering when dispatched.

    Planting Instructions

Plant promptly after delivery into a prepared garden position or larger container.

Choose a position with full sun to light shade and free-draining soil. Full sun generally encourages denser growth and stronger flowering.

Dig a hole slightly wider than the root ball and approximately the same depth. Carefully remove the young plant from its 50mm nursery pot, minimising disturbance to the developing roots.

Position the plant at its existing soil level, backfill gently and water thoroughly to settle the soil.

For mass planting, use approximately three to six plants per square metre. Plants may also be spaced approximately 40–60cm apart, depending on how quickly continuous coverage is required.

    Care Instructions

    Position

Grow Aussie Reflection™ in full sun to light shade.

Full sun generally produces the strongest flowering and most compact growth. Plants grown in excessive shade may become more open and produce fewer flowers.

In extremely hot positions, light afternoon protection can help young plants establish.

    Soil and Drainage

    Plant in free-draining soil.

Aussie Reflection™ can adapt to a range of soil types but should not remain continually wet. Improve heavy or poorly drained soil before planting, or grow the plant in a raised bed, mound or container.

Avoid positions where water remains around the roots for prolonged periods.

    Watering

Water regularly while the young plant establishes.

Allow the upper soil surface to begin drying between applications without allowing a newly planted 50mm plant to dry out completely.

Once established, Aussie Reflection™ is drought tolerant. Occasional deep watering during extended hot or dry periods can help maintain healthy foliage and flowering.

    Feeding

Apply a controlled-release fertiliser suitable for Australian native plants during active growth, following the product directions.

Avoid excessive fertiliser and do not use high-phosphorus products unless they are specifically labelled as suitable for Australian native plants.

    Pruning

Tip-prune after a major flowering display to encourage fresh growth and another flush of flowers.

Remove dead or damaged stems when new growth begins emerging after drought, frost or another stressful period.

More substantial trimming can be used to control the plant’s spread and rejuvenate an established planting.

    Hot and Humid Climates

In subtropical and humid climates, provide excellent drainage, generous spacing and good airflow.

Avoid continually wet foliage and prolonged waterlogging. Water near the base of the plant early enough for surrounding foliage to dry before evening.

Remove damaged or affected growth promptly if fungal problems develop during extended wet weather.

    Frost and Drought

Established plants tolerate drought and frost and may reshoot from protected stolons, rhizomes and rooted stems after difficult conditions.

Young plants supplied in 50mm pots remain more vulnerable. Protect them from severe frost and prolonged dryness until they have developed a strong root system.

    Container Growing

Aussie Reflection™ can be grown in pots, troughs and raised planters.

Choose a container with generous drainage holes and use a free-draining potting mix suitable for Australian native plants. Container-grown plants require more frequent watering than those established in the ground.

    Frequently Asked Questions

    How is Aussie Reflection™ supplied?

It is supplied as a young live plant growing in a 50mm nursery pot. It will be considerably smaller than the mature plants shown in example photographs.

    What colour are the flowers?

Aussie Reflection™ produces vibrant golden-yellow, button-shaped flower heads above its silver-blue foliage.

    How large does it grow?

The foliage generally grows approximately 20cm high, with flower stems reaching around 35cm. Established plants can spread approximately 50cm or more.

    How does Aussie Reflection™ spread?

It produces stolons and rhizomes that travel through or across the soil. Sections of the spreading stems can form additional roots, helping the plant establish a dense and resilient groundcover.

    Does it require full sun?

Full sun generally produces the strongest flowering and most compact growth, although the plant can also grow in light shade.

    Is it drought tolerant?

Yes. Established plants are drought tolerant and can recover following dry periods. Young plants supplied in 50mm pots require regular watering until their roots are established.

Is it suitable for humid climates?

Yes, provided it receives excellent drainage and good airflow. Avoid waterlogged soil and continually wet foliage, particularly during extended periods of humid or rainy weather.

Can it be grown in a container?

Yes. Use a pot with generous drainage holes and a free-draining potting mix suitable for Australian native plants. Container-grown plants require more frequent watering.ground
