Planting Instructions

Plant during spring or early summer for the fastest establishment. In mild climates, planting can also be carried out at other times when adequate water is available.

Choose a position in full sun to moderate shade. Dig a hole slightly wider than the root ball and plant at the same depth as the existing growing medium.

Backfill gently, firm the soil around the roots and water thoroughly.

For rapid, dense landscape coverage, plant approximately 6–10 plants per square metre. Wider spacing may be used where slower coverage is acceptable.

Apply mulch around the plants to retain moisture and reduce weed growth, keeping the mulch clear of the crowns.

Position

Grow Baby Breeze™ in full sun to moderate shade.

Plants grown in good light generally develop the densest growth. Moderate shade is suitable, although very dark positions may produce looser foliage and reduced flowering.

Soil

Baby Breeze™ adapts to a broad range of soil types, including:

Good drainage remains important, particularly in warm and humid climates. Avoid sites that remain deeply waterlogged for extended periods.

Watering

Water regularly while the plant establishes its root system.

Once established, Baby Breeze™ has good drought tolerance. Additional watering during prolonged hot or dry weather will help maintain lush foliage.

Allow container-grown plants and raised beds to drain freely.

Feeding

Apply a controlled-release fertiliser suitable for Australian native plants at planting time.

Established plants may be fed occasionally during active growth to improve foliage colour and density. Follow the fertiliser label directions and avoid excessive application.

Pruning

Trim away damaged or untidy foliage whenever required.

Older planting areas can be rejuvenated by cutting the foliage back to approximately 3–5cm above ground level. Fresh growth will emerge from the established rhizomes.

Carry out hard pruning during suitable growing weather and provide water while the plant recovers.

Humid Climates

In humid areas, provide good drainage and airflow.

Avoid continually saturated soil, especially where plants receive limited sunlight. Water near the base rather than repeatedly wetting the foliage.
