Planting Instructions

Plant in fertile, freely draining soil or premium potting mix. Position the bulb with its roots facing down and leave the neck and upper third of the bulb above the soil surface.

For containers, select a pot approximately 15–20cm wide with adequate drainage holes. The pot should comfortably accommodate the bulb without leaving excessive wet potting mix around it.

Water sparingly until active growth appears. Once leaves or a flower stem emerge, water when the upper potting mix begins to dry. Do not allow the bulb or pot to remain waterlogged.

Ongoing Care

Place potted bulbs in bright light and rotate the container periodically to encourage straighter flower stems. Stake the flowering stem if it requires additional support.

Once the blooms open, moving the pot away from intense sunlight may help extend the flowering display.

Remove individual spent flowers as they fade. Once the entire flowering stem has finished, cut it just above the bulb while leaving the foliage intact.

Continue watering and fertilising while the leaves are actively growing. The foliage replenishes the bulb and supports flowering in future seasons. Reduce watering as the leaves naturally decline and the bulb enters dormancy.
