Mixed Gladioli Bulbs – Gladiolus Grandiflorus – Summer Flowering Bulb Mix - Oldboy&

Description

Bring bold colour, height and structure to your summer garden with Mixed Gladioli Bulbs from Oldboy’s Flowers. Also known as Gladiolus bulbs, these tall summer flowering favourites produce elegant upright flower spikes in a vibrant mix of colours, making them ideal for garden borders, cottage gardens, cutting gardens and fresh flower arrangements.

Gladioli are loved for their dramatic vertical growth and long-lasting blooms. Their tall floral spires create instant impact in the garden, while the strong stems make them excellent for picking and displaying indoors. This mixed gladioli pack may include shades of white, pink, red, yellow, green, purple, mauve, orange and more, depending on seasonal availability.

Plant gladioli bulbs in groups for a bold garden display, or stagger plantings every 4–6 weeks during the season for a longer run of colour. They are easy to grow in sunny, well-drained positions and perform beautifully in Australian gardens through late spring and summer.

Why You’ll Love Them

Mixed Gladioli are perfect for gardeners who enjoy colour, variety and surprise. Each pack offers a beautiful seasonal mix, giving you a bright and varied display once the bulbs flower.

They are ideal for adding height behind lower-growing plants, creating a colourful border, or growing specifically for cut flowers. Their tall spikes make a strong statement outdoors and look fantastic in vases, bunches and floral arrangements.

This mix may include selected gladioli varieties such as Senvion, Live Oak, Dreamy Violet and other seasonal varieties, subject to availability.

Planting & Care

Plant gladioli bulbs in a position with full sun to semi shade. For best results, choose a sunny spot protected from strong winds.

Gladioli prefer well-drained, fertile soil. Before planting, improve the soil with compost or a general-purpose fertiliser. If growing in pots, use a deep container with good drainage and a premium-quality potting mix.

Plant bulbs approximately 10–12cm deep, with the pointed end facing upwards. Space bulbs around 10–20cm apart, depending on how full you would like the display to be.

Water after planting, then keep the soil lightly moist while the plants are actively growing. Increase watering during dry periods, especially when flower spikes are forming.

Feed during active growth with a complete fertiliser to support strong stems and quality blooms.

Tall gladioli may benefit from staking, especially in windy or exposed areas. Planting near a fence, border edge or other sheltered position can also help protect the flower spikes.

For cut flowers, pick stems when the lower blooms are just beginning to open. Place them straight into clean water and remove any leaves that would sit below the waterline. The remaining buds can continue opening indoors.

In frost-prone areas, plant once the risk of heavy frost has passed, or store dormant bulbs in a cool, dry, well-ventilated position until conditions improve.

What colours are included in the mix?

The mix may include a range of colours such as white, pink, red, yellow, green, purple, mauve, orange and more. Exact colours and varieties may vary depending on seasonal availability.

Will every pack have the same colours?

No. This is a mixed product, so colour and variety selection may vary between packs.

When should I plant gladioli bulbs?

In warmer areas, gladioli can be planted earlier in the season. In frost-prone areas, plant in August or spring once the risk of heavy frost has passed.

When do gladioli flower?

Gladioli generally flower from late spring through summer, depending on your climate and planting time.

Can I stagger plantings?

Yes. Planting every 4–6 weeks through the season can help extend your flowering display.

Are gladioli good cut flowers?

Yes. Gladioli are excellent cut flowers. Their tall stems and long-lasting blooms make them ideal for vases and floral arrangements.

Can gladioli grow in pots?

Yes. Use a deep pot or tub with good drainage and a premium potting mix. Tall varieties may still need staking.

Do gladioli need staking?

Staking is recommended for taller varieties or in windy positions. Their flower spikes can become top-heavy once in bloom.

Do gladioli need much care?

They are generally easy to grow. Give them sun, well-drained soil, regular watering during active growth and some support if needed.

Are these supplied growing or dormant?

They are supplied as dormant bulbs, ready for planting during the suitable season.
