Product Details
Add soft colour and reliable seasonal beauty to your garden with Belladonna Amaryllis, a charming Hippeastrum Sonatini variety producing beautiful salmon pink blooms on compact, sturdy stems. This variety is known for its generous flowering habit, with the potential to produce multiple blooms per stem, creating a bright and elegant display in pots, garden beds and cut flower arrangements.
Commonly searched for as Amaryllis, these flowering bulbs are botanically Hippeastrums. Sonatini Hippeastrums are generally more compact than many large-flowering Hippeastrum varieties, with naturally smaller bulbs and smaller blooms, but they are valued for their strong performance, easy-care nature and garden resilience.
Growing to approximately 35cm tall, Belladonna is well suited to pots, borders and garden beds. Its salmon pink flowers bring a warm, cheerful touch to seasonal displays and pair beautifully with white, green, red or deeper pink Hippeastrums.
Supplied as dormant bulbs, Belladonna can be planted from July to October. Plant with the bulb neck slightly exposed, keep the soil free draining, and allow the bulb to remain undisturbed in suitable climates for long-term performance.
Pre-Order Note
NOTE: This is a pre-order.

Important Bulb Size Note
Belladonna is a Sonatini Hippeastrum and naturally produces smaller bulbs than many large-flowering Hippeastrum varieties.
Bulbs may be closer in size to a daffodil bulb, but this is normal for Sonatini types. Bulbs supplied are selected as flowering-size bulbs with a viable root system.

Planting & Care
Plant Belladonna Amaryllis bulbs from July to October in a position with full sun to partial shade. In warmer climates, morning sun with afternoon shade can help protect the flowers and foliage from harsh heat.
Choose a light, free-draining soil. Before planting, loosen the soil to around 20cm deep and improve drainage if needed. Hippeastrums dislike sitting in wet, heavy soil, particularly while dormant.
Plant with the fat end and roots facing down, leaving the neck of the bulb slightly exposed above the soil surface. Do not bury the bulb completely. Space bulbs around 10cm apart for a full display, or further apart if you prefer a more open planting.
If growing in pots, use a high-quality, free-draining potting mix and ensure the pot has good drainage holes. Avoid overwatering, as bulbs can rot if left sitting in wet potting mix.
Water after planting, then water regularly during the active growing period, especially once leaves and flower stems begin to develop. Reduce watering as the plant naturally moves towards dormancy.
Feed annually with pelletised chicken manure or a balanced bulb fertiliser to support strong flowering and healthy bulb growth. Keep the bulb well-fed and watered during active growth so it can store energy before winter dormancy.
Hippeastrums prefer temperatures around 15–25°C while actively growing. Belladonna is considered a resilient Sonatini type, but bulbs should still be protected from severe frost, especially when young or grown in pots.
Once established in suitable climates, Hippeastrum bulbs often prefer to remain undisturbed in the ground for several years. They do not require annual lifting unless they become overcrowded, are exposed to poor drainage, or need to be moved.
