Product Details

Brighten your home, patio or garden with the striking beauty of Ambiance Amaryllis, a dramatic Hippeastrum x hybridum variety prized for its large, trumpet-shaped flowers. Each bloom features creamy-white petals boldly striped with vibrant red and finished with a fresh green throat, creating a bright and elegant display.

Commonly searched for as Amaryllis, these flowering bulbs are botanically known as Hippeastrums. Hippeastrum ‘Ambiance’ is an eye-catching choice for pots, sunny windows, patios, frost-protected outdoor areas and cut flower arrangements.

Growing to approximately 45–60cm tall, Ambiance produces large blooms up to 16cm across. It is a beautiful choice for gardeners wanting a bold feature bulb with clean contrast, strong colour and reliable seasonal impact. Blooms generally appear around 6–10 weeks after planting, depending on climate and growing conditions.

Supplied as a dormant bulb, Ambiance can be grown in pots or garden beds with good drainage. Plant from July to October in full sun to partial shade, leaving the neck of the bulb slightly exposed above the soil surface.

Planting & Care

Plant Ambiance Amaryllis bulbs from July to October in a position with full sun to partial shade. In warmer climates, morning sun with afternoon shade can help protect the flowers and foliage from harsh heat.

Choose a well-drained, fertile soil. Before planting, loosen the soil to around 20cm deep and improve drainage if needed. Hippeastrums dislike sitting in wet, heavy soil, especially while dormant.

Plant with the fat end and roots facing down, leaving the neck of the bulb slightly exposed above the soil surface. Do not bury the bulb completely.

If growing in pots, use a quality, free-draining potting mix and make sure the pot has good drainage holes. Choose a pot large enough to support the bulb and flower stem, but avoid oversized pots that hold too much moisture around the bulb.

Water after planting, then water moderately while the bulb is actively growing. Allow the mix or soil to dry slightly between waterings. Reduce watering as the plant naturally moves towards dormancy.

Feed during active growth with a balanced bulb fertiliser to support strong stems, large blooms and future flowering. Avoid excessive nitrogen, as this can encourage leafy growth at the expense of flowers.

Protect from frost, especially in colder regions or when growing in pots. In frost-prone areas, Ambiance is best grown indoors, under cover, or moved to a protected position during cold weather.

After flowering, allow the foliage to remain so the bulb can store energy for the next flowering cycle. With proper care and a suitable dormancy period, the bulb can rebloom in future seasons.

Flowering Time

Flowering time can vary depending on climate and planting conditions.
