Planting & Care

Plant dahlia tubers from September to December, once the risk of frost has passed and the soil has warmed.

Choose a position in full sun to light part shade with fertile, well-drained soil. Full sun gives the strongest flowering.

Plant the tuber with the growing eye facing upward and cover with approximately 5–10cm of soil. Avoid planting into cold, wet soil, as this can cause tubers to rot.
