Description
Create a dense privacy screen without sacrificing valuable garden space with Lush & Thin™ Murraya, a specially selected form of Murraya paniculata developed for narrow hedges and tight planting areas.
Unlike common Murraya varieties that can quickly grow wide and take over pathways or small gardens, Lush & Thin™ has a naturally upright, slender habit. It develops dense evergreen foliage from top to bottom while remaining approximately 80cm–1m wide, making it ideal for side boundaries, driveways, courtyards and narrow garden beds.
Fine green leaves and fresh lime-green new growth give the hedge a lighter appearance, while clusters of sweetly fragrant white flowers appear from spring through autumn.
Growing approximately 2–3m high, Lush & Thin™ provides useful screening and privacy while requiring less width than a traditional Murraya hedge.
Plant Size Note
Supplied as a young plant in a 42mm tube.
Plants supplied in 42mm tubes are small starter plants and will require time to establish before reaching the mature size shown in example images.
Plants may not be flowering when dispatched. Height, branching, foliage colour and seasonal appearance will vary naturally between individual plants.

Planting & Care
Plant Lush & Thin™ Murraya in full sun to part shade.
Full sun generally encourages dense growth and abundant flowering. It can also grow in part shade, although growth and flowering may be lighter in darker positions.
Choose fertile, free-draining soil. Murraya adapts to a range of soil types but should not be planted where water remains around the roots for extended periods.
Water thoroughly after planting and maintain regular moisture for approximately 8–12 weeks while the root system establishes.
Once established, water deeply during prolonged hot or dry periods as required. Regular moisture during active growth will support faster establishment and denser screening.
Apply mulch around the root zone to help retain moisture, regulate soil temperature and reduce weeds. Keep mulch slightly away from the main stem.
Feed during spring with a suitable slow-release fertiliser. Follow the fertiliser directions carefully, particularly while the plant is young.
Lightly trim as required to maintain the desired height, width and density. Regular light pruning is preferable to allowing the hedge to become overgrown before cutting it back heavily.
Flowering Time
Lush & Thin™ produces clusters of fragrant white flowers from spring through autumn.
Flowering time and abundance will vary depending on climate, plant maturity, sunlight, pruning and seasonal conditions.
Unclipped plants may occasionally develop decorative red berries after flowering.
Landscape Uses
Lush & Thin™ Murraya is suitable for:
- Narrow privacy screens
- Boundary hedges
- Side access areas
- Driveway planting
- Pathway borders
- Courtyards
- Small gardens
- Formal hedging
- Entrance planting
- Residential landscapes
- Commercial landscaping
- Areas where garden width is limited
Planting Density
For a standard narrow hedge, plant approximately 1–2 plants per linear metre.
For faster coverage and a denser screen, plant approximately 2–3 plants per linear metre.
Final spacing will depend on how quickly coverage is required and how regularly the hedge will be trimmed.
Growing in Pots
Lush & Thin™ may be grown in large containers where regular pruning is used to control its eventual size.
Use a quality free-draining potting mix and choose a sturdy container with clear drainage holes.
Move the young plant gradually into larger pots as its root system develops rather than planting it directly into an excessively large container.
Container-grown plants require more frequent watering and feeding than plants growing in the ground.
