Planting and Care

Plant in rich, free-draining soil with the neck and upper third of the bulb remaining above soil level. Select a sunny or lightly shaded position protected from strong winds.

Water around the base after planting and then moderately as growth develops. Avoid pouring water over the exposed bulb neck or allowing the soil to remain waterlogged.

Feed during the leafy growth period to replenish the bulb. After flowering, remove the spent flower stem but retain the foliage until it naturally yellows and dies back.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the variety called Eon or Neon?
The registered cultivar is ‘Eon’, while Neon® is its trade name. Australian retailers commonly combine the names as Neon Eon.

What colour are the flowers?
The flowers are vivid fuchsia or candy pink with white markings and a green-white throat.

Is Neon Eon a double Hippeastrum?
No. It is a single-flowered Diamond Group variety.

Are its flowers smaller than standard Hippeastrums?
Yes. Its compact flowers generally measure approximately 13–15cm across.

What does multi-flowering mean?
Established bulbs may produce multiple flowers for a fuller display. The exact number depends on bulb maturity and growing conditions.

Can it be grown in a pot?
Yes. Its compact flower form makes it particularly well suited to containers with excellent drainage.

Will every flower have identical markings?
No. The distribution of white and green markings may vary naturally between flowers.
