Planting & Care
Plant Strawberry Event Lilium bulbs from June to September in a position with full sun to part shade. In warmer regions, morning sun with some afternoon protection can help protect flowers from harsh heat.
Choose fertile, free-draining soil. Liliums dislike sitting in wet, heavy soil, so improve drainage before planting if needed. A slightly acidic soil is ideal, around pH 5.5–6.5.
Plant bulbs approximately 10–15cm deep and space around 20–30cm apart. In pots, use a quality, free-draining potting mix and choose a deep container with good drainage holes.
Water well after planting, then keep the soil lightly moist during active growth. Avoid waterlogging, especially while bulbs are dormant or just beginning to shoot.
Mulch around the plants to help retain moisture, protect the root zone and reduce soil temperature fluctuations. In cooler or frost-prone areas, mulch can also help protect bulbs through colder periods.
Feed during active growth with a balanced fertiliser or bulb fertiliser to support strong stems, healthy foliage and quality blooms.
Stake plants if needed, especially in windy or exposed areas. After flowering, remove spent blooms but leave the foliage to die back naturally so the bulb can store energy for the following season.
Flowering Time
Flowering: October to December, depending on climate and planting time.
Flowering can vary slightly between regions and seasons.
