Product Details
Add clean, elegant colour to your garden or pot display with Swan Lake Hippeastrum, a beautiful Sonatini Hippeastrum variety known for its crisp white blooms and fresh green to chartreuse throat. With its refined colouring and compact growth habit, Swan Lake is a lovely choice for pots, garden beds, borders and cut flower displays.
Commonly searched for as Amaryllis, these flowering bulbs are botanically Hippeastrums. Sonatini Hippeastrums are generally more compact than many large-flowering Hippeastrum varieties, with naturally smaller bulbs and smaller to medium-sized blooms, while still producing an impressive seasonal display.
Swan Lake is perfect for gardeners wanting a softer, classic white flowering bulb with a fresh green centre. Its clean colour works beautifully on its own or paired with red, pink, burgundy, green or striped Hippeastrums for a mixed seasonal display.
Supplied as a dormant bulb, Swan Lake can be grown in pots or directly in the garden in suitable conditions. Plant from July to October in full sun to partial shade, leaving the neck of the bulb slightly exposed above the soil surface.
Pre-Order Note
NOTE: This is a pre-order.
Stock is expected to be ready around the end of July, however this may push into August depending on seasonal conditions and supplier availability.

If there are any supply issues, we will contact you regarding substitution options.
Any items you do not wish to have substituted will be refunded.
Important Bulb Size Note
Swan Lake is a Sonatini Hippeastrum and naturally produces smaller bulbs than many large-flowering Hippeastrum varieties.
Bulbs may be closer in size to a daffodil bulb, but this is normal for Sonatini types. Bulbs supplied are selected as flowering-size bulbs with a viable root system.

Planting & Care
Plant Swan Lake Hippeastrum bulbs from July to October in a position with full sun to partial shade. In warmer climates, morning sun with afternoon shade can help protect the flowers and foliage from harsh heat.
Choose a light, free-draining soil. Before planting, loosen the soil to around 20cm deep and improve drainage if needed. Hippeastrums dislike sitting in wet, heavy soil, especially while dormant.
Plant with the fat end and roots facing down, leaving the neck of the bulb slightly exposed above the soil surface. Do not bury the bulb completely. Space bulbs around 10cm apart for a full display, or further apart for a more open planting.
If growing in pots, use a quality, free-draining potting mix and ensure the pot has good drainage holes. Avoid overwatering, as bulbs can rot if left sitting in wet potting mix.
Water after planting, then water regularly during the active growing period, especially once leaves and flower stems begin to develop. Reduce watering as the plant naturally moves towards dormancy.
Feed annually with pelletised chicken manure or a balanced bulb fertiliser to support strong flowering and healthy bulb growth. Keep the bulb well-fed and watered during active growth so it can store energy before winter dormancy.
Hippeastrums prefer mild temperatures while actively growing and should be protected from frost, especially in colder regions or when grown in pots.
Once established in suitable climates, Hippeastrum bulbs often prefer to remain undisturbed in the ground for several years. They do not require annual lifting unless they become overcrowded, are exposed to frost, or are growing in poorly drained soil.
